LATAH SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT

We have added a blog (http://blog.latahsoil.org) to our Internet outreach efforts.  The Latah SWCD blog features the latest news about local conservation efforts, community and economic development, and conservation program announcements relevant to landowners and land users within Latah County.  Our website, accessible from the blog, provides reference material including conservation plans, reports, outreach activities, maps, and links to conservation partners.

Our blog will focus on agriculture, forestry, livestock, fisheries, invasive species, land use planning, water resources, wildlife, and endangered species.  It will also provide a portal to local, state, and federal government agencies and officials

Blogs are increasingly used by conservation organizations to provide up-to-the minute news and multimedia content to Internet users.  They help people sift through the vast amount of information found on the Internet.  Blog subscribers are notified via their home page's "reader" when something has been posted on the blog.  This feature, called RSS feeds (Really Simple Syndication), saves you an enormous amount time.  You know longer have to remember to visit your favorite website looking for new material.  When a new post is added to a blog you are following, its title will appear in your "reader".  To read the post just click its title in the reader.  The Spring 2009 edition of The Working Conservationist features an article about how to subscribe to the Latah SWCD blog.
