Latah Soil and Water Conservation District

2007 Poster Contest
During autumn, Idaho's 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students are invited to display their artistic skills by participating in the Idaho Association of Soil Conservation District's (IASCD) poster contest. The contest is comprised of three levels: District, Division II and State. Cash prizes are awarded at each level. This year's theme was "Conservation's Power".

At the Latah County District level, Janet Hohle, Ken Preston, and Patrick Adams visited Genesee School and Jennifer Hayne's 4th, 5th, and 6th grade art classes to pick out the top three posters from each class. The winning posters were then displayed at the Latah County Courthouse. On October 15th the Latah County Commissioners selected the top three posters. The winners were Kamri Sams (1st place, $25), Sydney Cornell (2nd place, $15), Kayla Cornell (3rd place, $10), and Kaleb Cox (honorable mention). These posters went on to the IASCD Division II contest.
During the October 18th IASCD Division II meeting in Craigmont, Idaho, attendees from Latah, Clearwater, Nez Perce, Lewis, and Idaho Counties selected three posters to send to the State contest in Boise. The winners of the Division II contest were Darby Keane (first place, Orchards Elementary, Lewiston, $25), Kayla Cornell (second place, Genesee School, Genesee, $15), and Cheyenne Cleveland (third place, Orchards Elementary, Lewiston, $10). These posters were sent to Boise to compete in the State contest that was held on December 3rd.
